Meet Your InstructorGrace Jones-Taylor is an award-winning dancer and international instructor based in Austin, TX. She specializes in blues dancing, but has trained in many styles of partnered dancing. She's been teaching dance professionally since 2012 and has traveled extensively to teach workshops and private lessons across North America. Her students value her instruction due to its combination of down-to-earth warmth and precise, technical breakdown. When she's not teaching, Grace travels to compete in blues and just in 2016 has won competitions in New York City, Pittsburgh, and Minneapolis.
"I love the way she combines dance technique with a healthy dose of fun and attitude" |
Student Testimonials"I've been taking lessons for over two years now and Grace is one of my favorite instructors. She makes dance technique intuitive for students at all levels...She can help you zero in on what you want to get out of lessons and will tailor private lessons accordingly. But most importantly she makes learning fun! Grace will make you want to keep improving as a dancer. I highly recommend Grace Jones-Taylor as a dance instructor."
Trenton Henrichson, Austin "One of our criteria for selecting a dance instructor for our wedding dance was to find someone with whom the groom would be comfortable--he was completely new to dancing and felt somewhat apprehensive about learning. Having known Grace for several years, I was confident that she would be a good personality match to reduce Will's fears about dancing. The first session went so well that the nervous groom came home after the lesson and suggested moving our living room coffee table aside to practice a few more times before the night ended! It takes a really great instructor like Grace to spark an interest like that in someone anxious about dancing and then to support that new dancer so that it becomes a positive, fun experience. Grace was extremely patient and encouraging, and she addressed both of our learning styles to help us dance in sync together and dance our first dance confidently and with joy." Mary Bauman Forkner, Austin "Grace is a fantastic instructor, and, as far as I can tell, the best bang for one's buck for dance lessons anywhere in town. With exactly one week to go before our wedding, my fiance and I took four one-hour lessons from Grace over the course of five days and were able to learn about a dozen different moves to perform at our first dance, in addition to basic technique (open and closed position, two-step, etc.). In other words, Grace turned what would have been an extremely awkward first dance into something passing for Graceful! In her teaching, Grace is clear, articulate, and precise, making it very easy to learn from her. Moreover, she is warm, understanding, patient, and charming, making it very pleasant to work with her. In sum, Grace possesses all of the qualities that make for a consummate instructor in dance and we cannot recommend her more highly." Benjamin Hardee, Austin "Grace is one of my favorite blues dance teachers. I've taken group classes and private lessons from her, and also hired her to teach workshops in my city. I love the way she combines dance technique with a healthy dose of fun and attitude, while also maintaining a solid connection with the music and the roots of blues dance. She's professional and fun, and very easy to work with. Her passion for the dance and the music is evident in every movement, and she brings such fire to the dance floor that she can't help but inspire those around her." Amy Blank, Boston |
