Meet Your Instructor

Hi! My name is Grace Jones-Taylor and I'm excited to share with you the joy and connection that dancing can bring into our lives. Here are a few things you might like to know about me:

I love working with beginners!
My personal goal as a teacher is to make even the most nervous new dancer feel welcomed and capable. Two left feet is not a problem!

Fostering connection and joy
While I teach over 15 partnered dance styles including Latin, Country, Swing, Blues and Ballroom dances - my speciality is wedding dance lessons and date nights. I just love helping couples connect with each other through dance!

Experience that reaches beyond Texas
I've been teaching dance professionally since 2012 and since then, have had the honor of teaching at festivals around the world, including NYC, Denver, Chicago, LA, Pittsburgh, Quebec City, and Seoul, South Korea.

Off the dance floor

I'm a huge nerd: I love cooperative board games and marvel movies. I spend a lot of time cooking, baking, and gardening. I also have two extremely fluffy animals: Miri (my shetland sheepdog) and Frida (my cat).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a partner to take lessons with?
No! You're welcome to bring a partner to lessons, but it's not necessary as I dance and teach as both a lead and a follow. Additionally, the price for lessons is the same whether you come alone or with a partner.
How long is each lesson?
Each lesson lasts 60 minutes.
How do I schedule my first lesson?
Use the contact form to send an inquiry, including days and times that you're generally available.  I will follow up with you within 24 hours.
How do I pay for lessons?
Bring cash or a check for the full amount to your first lesson. You can also pay via Cash App. The total is due upfront for whichever package you choose.
What type of shoes should I wear?
Wear something with a smooth sole (hard leather is great!) that are comfortable to move in. If you're preparing for a special occasion like your wedding dance, bring the shoes you plan to wear.

You may also want to invest in a pair of specialty dance shoes, with suede or hard leather soles for easier movement. I recommend Movin' Easy locally, or SwayD for online options.
Should I tip my instructor?
Tips are not expected but are always appreciated, similar to other service industries in the U.S.
Do lessons expire when you buy a package?
Yes, but only after a full year has passed since purchase. That should be more than enough time to complete the lessons in any package, no matter how crazy your schedule is.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to reschedule your appointment for any reason, give me at least 24 hours notice and we can reschedule you for another day. Trying to reschedule with less than 24 hours notice will result in the loss of that lesson.
What styles of dance can I learn ?
I teach over 15 styles of dance in a variety of genres: Latin, Country-Western, Ballroom, Swing and more. You can find out more about each dance on the Find Your Style page.
Are you inclusive of LGBTQ+ folks?
Yes, absolutely! All are welcome, regardless of sexuality or gender identity. If you feel comfortable doing so, please provide your pronouns on the Contact Form, or the Intake Form (there is a field for them). And if there's anything else I can do to provide a more comfortable learning environment, please don't hesitate to ask!
